PUSD and Palomar Council PTA have announced the dates for their Middle School College Readiness Fairs, which are being planned for this Spring. The second fair is scheduled for Monday, May 4^th at 6:30 pm at Twin Peaks Middle School (located at 14640 Tierra Bonita Road, Poway 92064). You can visit with vendors beginning at 6:00 pm. Students and their parents from Bernardo Heights, Meadowbrook and Twin Peaks middle schools are invited to attend this event.

The format and focus of these middle school fairs is different from the college fair that was held this past October. These middle school fairs will consist of a general session presentation in the school gym followed by breakout sessions in the classrooms. Parents and students will be able to select which breakout sessions to attend. College reps from a few of the local colleges will also be there to answer questions that the students and parents may have. The focus of these middle school fairs is to present information to parents and students on college readiness, which can help them in middle school. These middle school college readiness fairs will better serve the needs of middle school students and parents better than the typical “high school college fair”. California State PTA has announced that Palomar Council PTA will be the recipient for its "Allied Agencies/Community Partners Involvement Award" for its collaboration with PUSD on the 2008 PUSD College Fair. Palomar Council PTA was the only council or unit in San Diego County to win a My PTA/PTSA Award this year. Presentation of the award will take place on Saturday, May 2nd at the General Meeting of the California State PTA Convention in San Jose. Earlier that day, Colleen Salzetti, College Fair Coordinator, will present the highlights of the College Fair at a conference at the convention.

Date announced for Fall Fair

PUSD and Palomar Council PTA have announced that the 2009 Fall High School College Fair will take place on Tuesday, October 20th. The fair is scheduled from 6pm to 8:30pm at Rancho Bernardo High School and Bernardo Heights Middle School. This year's College Fair is for high school students and their parents only. Last year over 140 colleges participated in the PUSD College Fair.
